Rappelling (April to November):

For this experience we will travel to some area cliffs to experience rappelling (descending a cliff face with the use of ropes). Rappelling is sort of the roller coaster ride of the sport of climbing. Participants will get a chance to experience all the thrills of rappelling down a cliff face with the security of a back-up belay rope being used. This allows participants to focus on rappelling techniques and enjoy the experience without worrying about making a technical error that could endanger them. Experienced staff will do all belaying of rappelling participants. Participants will be provided helmets, seat harnesses, all other technical gear needed, first aid kit, and a day pack to carry personal items as-well-as some group gear in. The group will always carry emergency medical forms and a bathroom kit.

Wear: comfortable clothing appropriate for the expected weather and that allows much freedom of movement. Shorts or pants are fine, but shorts should be close to knee length so seat harnesses do not rub against the participant's skin. Comfortable shoes appropriate for trail walking up to two miles (no sandals or open toed shoes as these do not protect your toes or tops of your feet from sharp sticks or rocks on the trail.

Pack For Day Trips: a bag lunch that does not need to be refrigerated and two drinks ( 20 to 32 oz. in size) in plastic screw-top bottles.
Pack For Half-Day Trips: two drinks in plastic screw-top bottles.
